The Adidas Arrow Hit CTRL 2026 is Adidas' control option in the mid-budget category: a round shape with an Advanced Composite face, control 9/10 and IBS (Interchangeable Balance System), which makes the balance point adjustable. This sets it apart from almost all competitors in the €250–290 segment. Sweet spot 9/10, manoeuvrability 9/10, forgiveness 9/10 and defence 9/10. A consistently high control profile. The Advanced Composite face (not carbon) is the trade-off: at higher swing speeds, carbon provides a crisper, more direct response. For players with some experience, this is barely noticeable; for those who feel every nuance, it may be a consideration. The IBS system makes this racket adjustable: more weight towards the back provides stability on defensive shots, while more weight towards the front adds a little power. A feature that makes Adidas almost unique in this price segment. Compare it with the Adidas Metalbone CTRL 3.4 if you want a carbon face in a similar control profile, or the Arrow Hit Attack 2026 if you want a more attacking direction within the same line.

The Adidas Arrow Hit CTRL 2026 weighs 355–375g, with a round shape and adjustable balance (default low ~258mm). Profile 38mm. Face: Advanced Composite. Core: Standard EVA. Frame: Composite. Price: ~€259.

The Arrow Hit deliberately uses no carbon. Adidas uses "Advanced Composite", a material that provides more flexibility and comfort than carbon but is less responsive at higher playing speeds. The added value lies in IBS.

IBS, Intelligent Balance System: IBS lets players add up to +9g at specific positions in the frame through a mechanically adjustable system (MPS, Multi-Position System). This changes the racket balance without loose weights or lead tape. The CTRL version is set to a low balance for control; players can adjust it towards a head-heavy configuration for an attacking position.

Technologies:

  • IBS (Intelligent Balance System), an adjustable weight system up to +9g
  • MPS (Multi-Position System), adjustable weight positions in the frame
  • ASC Surface, an anti-slip coating for spin potential
  • Round Control Mold, optimised round geometry for defensive precision

Control 9 and defence 9 are the primary scores for the CTRL configuration. A round mould with low balance gives it the same defence-focused characteristics as other round rackets in the segment. The Advanced Composite face is softer than carbon: on slow balls, it provides more feel; against hard attacks, a less direct response.

IBS in practice: players can set the CTRL to a slightly higher balance for more overhead power. This makes the racket adaptable for players who do not always occupy the same position on court. It is not a substitute for the specific carbon stiffness of the Metalbone line, however.

Comfort is rated 8/10: Advanced Composite + Standard EVA + low balance provide a pleasant playing feel. Adidas Vibrabsorb technology in the frame helps with this.

Manoeuvrability is rated 9/10. The round mould and low default balance allow quick transitions. If the balance is set to a head-heavy configuration, manoeuvrability drops slightly but remains acceptable.

Sweet spot is rated 9/10: a round mould inherently provides the largest sweet spot, even with a composite face.

The Arrow Hit Control is an entry-level all-round racket for players with some experience who prioritise control and accuracy over raw power. It suits players moving from a forgiving racket to a more technical all-round model, without the premium price of the Metalbone series.

The Control has a different design focused on precision and consistency. The Attack has a diamond shape for maximum attacking power. Choose the Control if you play a technical all-round game and prioritise accuracy; choose the Attack if overhead power is your main priority.

More so than the Attack. The control profile is a better fit for beginners developing their technique. Its all-round characteristics provide room for both attacking and defensive play without the racket being too demanding.

The Metalbone 3.5 has Carbon Aluminized 16K, a Weight and Balance System and Octagonal Structure, premium specifications for experienced attackers. The Arrow Hit Control is an entry-level model with simpler specifications and a lower price. The Metalbone is for players who compete intensively; the Arrow Hit is for players with some experience who mostly play for enjoyment through to light competition.

Reasonably so. As an entry-level all-round racket, its contact response is milder than the stiffer Metalbone series. For serious arm or elbow discomfort, comfort rackets with a fibreglass face remain the best choice, but for players who mainly play for enjoyment, this is acceptable.

In the entry-level segment, the Arrow Hit Control provides a solid Adidas platform for control players with some experience. Competitors such as the Head Radical Motion or Wilson Endure generally sit in a higher price segment with more advanced technology. The Arrow Hit Control is the most affordable way into the Adidas ecosystem.

What will you notice on court?

What you will notice as a player

At the net you react very quickly: blocks and fast volleys feel almost effortless.

You place the ball very precisely; controlling rallies, playing cross-court and finding the corners feels predictable.

The racket helps in defense: a calm swing sends balls off the glass deep again.

The sweet spot offers forgiveness: slightly imperfect contact loses little accuracy.

The smash gets no easy power; depth and speed must come from your own follow-through.

No pronounced weakness, but no single shot where the racket particularly stands out either.

Which shots are affected most?

SituationWhat will you notice?
DefensePlenty of help: the low balance and generous sweet spot return balls off the glass calmly and deep.
VolleyCrisp and agile: aiming feels effortless and late adjustments remain possible.
BandejaVery easy to control: the ball stays low and predictable, ideal for controlling the court.
ViboraEnough bite for a quick brushing shot with some acceleration of your own.
SmashSolid rather than explosive: depth and speed need your own follow-through.
BlockA strong point: the racket is ready very quickly and returns the ball with control.
Off-center ballForgiving: just outside the sweet spot you lose little and the ball stays on course.
