The difference lies entirely in the core. High Memory EVA concentrates energy at high impact: the ball leaves harder if swing speed is high enough. Below that threshold, the core returns little.

Technologies:

  • High Memory EVA, hard core for concentrated power at high swing speed
  • Carbon Aluminized, aluminium-coated carbon face for spin
  • Weight & Balance System, 6 removable screws (+12g adjustable)
  • Smart Holes Curve, frame openings for air-resistance distribution
  • Octagonal Structure, eight-sided frame for stiffness

is the only available independent source for this racket. Power is 9/10: High Memory EVA only delivers it at sufficiently high swing speed; on a slow swing it responds flatter than scores suggest.

Sweetspot is 6/10, the most distinctive catalogue score. The finding is clear: the contact zone is noticeably smaller than standard Metalbone. Off-centre hits are reflected rather than absorbed. A technical racket for consistent central contact.

Spin is 5/10 (standardised topspin). Carbon Aluminized scores well on surface texture, but standardised protocols measure actual spin transfer on a standard stroke rather than surface potential. Qualitatively, Carbon Aluminized has the same spin potential as standard Metalbone 3.3.

Comfort is 6/10. The hard core cushions less than soft alternatives. Players sensitive to hard contact or vibrations should account for this; standard Metalbone 3.3 or Metalbone 3.4 are better choices.

Defence is 5/10. Head-heavy weight and the hard core make fast transitions at the net difficult. Built for the attacker, not the defender.

HRD+ has a hard core (High Memory EVA) for more power at high swing speed. Standard 3.3 has a soft core (EVA Soft Performance) for more comfort and a larger sweetspot. HRD+ is more technical; standard is more forgiving.

For experienced to expert players who attack and consistently hit the racket centre. Players with arm problems or less consistent technique are better off with standard Metalbone or Metalbone 3.4.

Availability is currently limited. The direct successor in the HRD+ line is Adidas Metalbone HRD+ 2026, available for €340.

What will you notice on court?

What you will notice as a player

The smash gets plenty of easy power; you do not need a full follow-through to put the ball away.

A balanced racket that responds predictably in most situations.

Off-center contact is penalized: hitting just outside the sweet spot loses power and control.

In long matches you feel more in your arm; the core offers little cushioning, so the load builds up.

The racket offers little help in defense; returning balls off the glass takes considerable effort.

At the net you react a little more slowly: the weight sits forward, so quick adjustments take more effort.

Which shots are affected most?

SituationWhat will you notice?
DefenseLittle help: you must guide balls off the glass and keep them deep yourself.
VolleyComfortable and stable; aiming is easy and you keep the ball low.
BandejaEasy to control: the ball stays reasonably low and predictable.
ViboraVery explosive: plenty of speed and bite, a natural shot for this racket.
SmashIts strongest point: maximum power with little effort, sending the ball away like a rocket.
BlockThe forward weight makes quick blocks more demanding than with an agile racket.
Off-center ballUnforgiving: outside the sweet spot, both speed and accuracy drop noticeably.
