The Adidas Metalbone Team 3.5 is the standard Team entry in the Metalbone family. Heavier than Team Light (345–365g vs. 330–350g), with slightly more power but slightly less manoeuvrability. Aimed at experienced attackers seeking Metalbone feel at a more accessible price.

The Metalbone Team 3.5 weighs 345–365g, diamond shape, high balance. Profile 38mm. Face: Carbon Aluminized. Core: EVA.

Metalbone Team 3.5 within the line:

ModelWeightPricePowerOverall
Metalbone Team Light 3.5330–350g€1757.5/107.9
Metalbone Team 3.5345–365g€2208/107.7
Metalbone 3.5 2026345–360g€3009/108.5

Team 3.5 is close to the flagship in weight, but with a lower carbon specification (no 16K) and without Weight & Balance System. The RRP difference from 3.5 is €80.

Technologies:

  • Carbon Aluminized face, recognisable Metalbone shot response in the Team line too
  • Smart Holes Curve, aerodynamic hole pattern
  • Power Groove, groove structure for overhead energy transfer
  • Spin Blade Decal, edge profile for topspin

Power 8/10 is Team 3.5's strongest characteristic. Diamond shape with high balance and 345–365g provides sufficient mass for overheads. Less explosive than Metalbone 3.5 flagship with 16K carbon, but more than sufficient for most experienced attackers.

Manoeuvrability is 8/10. Weight is comparable to the flagship, but Team is slightly more accessible to use, with a somewhat less stiff profile.

Sweetspot 7.5/10. Slightly narrower than Team Light, logically: weight goes towards more power, not a larger sweetspot. Players prioritising a broad sweetspot are better off with Team Light or CTRL variants.

Weight: Team weighs 345–365g, Team Light 330–350g. Team delivers slightly more overhead power; Team Light is faster and more agile. Choose according to your priority: hitting force or reaction speed.

If you already have experience with attacking play and a teardrop racket: yes. If you are starting out or considering whether a diamond suits you: begin with teardrop and work from there. High balance requires overhead technique.

Advantages & considerations

Advantages

Power 8/10: strong attacking profile for a Team variant

Recognisable Metalbone character: same diamond shape and high balance as the flagship

Better value position than 3.5 flagship for a comparable attacking profile

Manoeuvrability 8/10: manageable in net duels and overheads

Considerations

Smaller sweetspot (7.5/10) than Team Light or control variants

Diamond shape demands technique; not recommended without overhead experience

Less power than Metalbone 3.5 flagship, which has a significantly higher carbon specification

A balanced racket that responds predictably in most situations.

No pronounced weakness, but no single shot where the racket particularly stands out either.

SmashIts strongest point: maximum power with little effort, sending the ball away like a rocket.
BlockStable: the racket is ready in time and returns the ball with control.
Off-center ballReasonably forgiving: outside the sweet spot you lose some speed, while accuracy is largely maintained.
