"Defy" refers to the counterintuitive concept: a diamond with low balance. Typical attacking diamonds have high balance (275–285mm); the Defy Pro sits at 265mm. This gives more control and manoeuvrability than standard attacking diamonds while the geometry retains overhead power.

15K Carbon is a specific Wilson choice. Less common than 12K or 18K, its position between the two balances responsiveness (12K) and pure stiffness (18K).

Technologies:

  • 15K Carbon, fibre density positioned between 12K and 18K for a balanced response
  • Power Foam, EVA variant focused on energy transfer in attacking shots
  • Medium-Low Balance, 265mm for controllable attacking play
  • Spin² Technology, 3D relief surface for spin potential

Power 9 with control 8 is the defining profile of the Defy Pro V1. Most diamond attacking rackets score power 9–10 but control 6–7. The Defy Pro retains control 8 through the lower balance (265mm) and Power Foam (softer than HRD EVA or Black EVA).

265mm balance on a diamond is deliberately unorthodox. It gives players who attack but also want solid volleys an option between the teardrop all-rounder and the pure attacking diamond. The racket manoeuvres faster than high-balance diamonds at the net.

Comfort is 8/10; Power Foam is soft enough to damp vibrations without losing the power character. Compared with hard EVA models (comfort 6), this is noticeably more comfortable.

15K Carbon gives a stiffer face than 12K but softer than 18K. Sweetspot is 7/10, larger than high-balance diamonds, smaller than teardrop.

Manoeuvrability is 8/10. Lower head weight (low balance) makes quick transitions faster than with standard attacking diamonds.

The Pro V1 has a 15K carbon face (vs. 3K in the V1), with a sharper and more uniform response. Balance is 265mm medium-low (vs. high in the V1). The Pro is more expensive but technically significantly better. At a V1 sale price of €100–€150: good value. At a comparable price: Pro V1.

The 265mm medium-low balance is deliberate: Wilson positions the Defy Pro V1 as a power diamond with more versatility than the average high-balance attacking racket. The result is manoeuvrability 8, exceptionally high for a diamond. Players who also defend or need to change position quickly benefit. Pure overhead specialists seeking maximum explosiveness are better served by a high-balance competitor such as the Bullpadel Hack 04 2026 or Nox AT10 Genius Attack 18K.

Advantages & considerations

Advantages

15K carbon face, significantly more premium than the Defy V1 (3K) for a sharper, more uniform shot response

265mm medium-low balance, atypical for a diamond: greater manoeuvrability (8) than most power diamonds

Duo Grid Hole Pattern: large holes at the top for power, small ones at the bottom for control and spin, an optimised hole pattern

Power Foam core gives more comfort (7) than Hard EVA at comparable power

Considerations

Less pure power than high-balance diamonds; medium-low balance limits overhead explosiveness

Sweetspot 7, diamond shape remains less forgiving than teardrop or round

Limited external review coverage for the Pro V1 specifically

What will you notice on court?

What you will notice as a player

The smash gets plenty of easy power; you do not need a full follow-through to put the ball away.

The racket helps in defense: a calm swing sends balls off the glass deep again.

No pronounced weakness, but no single shot where the racket particularly stands out either.

Which shots are affected most?

SituationWhat will you notice?
DefensePlenty of help: the low balance and generous sweet spot return balls off the glass calmly and deep.

BandejaVery easy to control: the ball stays low and predictable, ideal for controlling the court.
ViboraVery explosive: plenty of speed and bite, a natural shot for this racket.
SmashIts strongest point: maximum power with little effort, sending the ball away like a rocket.
BlockStable: the racket is ready in time and returns the ball with control.
Off-center ballReasonably forgiving: outside the sweet spot you lose some speed, while accuracy is largely maintained.
