The Babolat Technical Viper 3.0 2026 introduces Carbon Power Layer, an extra carbon layer in the core for maximum energy transfer. X-EVA multi-density for better comfort than the 2.5 version. Power 10.

The Babolat Technical Viper 3.0 2026 weighs 360–375g, diamond shape, high balance. Profile 38mm. Face: 3K Carbon + Carbon Power Layer. Core: X-EVA multi-density. Frame: Carbon.

Babolat Viper 3.0 generation:

"Carbon Power Layer" is Babolat's new approach: an extra carbon layer specifically optimised for power transfer on top of the standard 3K carbon face. It provides the stiffness of a higher carbon specification without becoming fully 12K or 18K.

Technologies:

  • Carbon Power Layer, extra carbon layer for greater face stiffness
  • X-EVA Multi-Density, two EVA densities in one core for an adaptive response
  • Carbon Spine, reinforced central axis for torsional stability
  • SoftFeel Grip, soft grip for cushioning in the hand

Power 10 is the dominant score. Carbon Power Layer increases effective stiffness over standard 3K without the full trade-off of 12K or 18K. The result is a racket feeling harder than a 3K specification normally provides.

X-EVA Multi-Density core: higher density in the centre provides efficient energy transfer on central shots; lower density at the edges gives slightly more tolerance on off-centre contact. This is the practical implementation of Babolat's "adaptive response" claim.

Comfort is 7/10, better than pure 18K models, less soft than Babolat's Air line. This is workable for sustained attacking play. Players seeking softer contact are better off with the Air Viper 2.6.

Sweetspot is 7/10. A high-balance diamond has a smaller effective hitting area than teardrop. Carbon Power Layer does provide more consistent response across the face than standard 3K, partly compensating for the geometry.

The 3.0 has Carbon Power Layer (an extra carbon layer in the core) and X-EVA multi-density. The 2.5 had standard Hard EVA. The 3.0 gives more power with greater comfort. If the 2.5 is available on sale for €150–€180: a solid alternative. At a comparable price: 3.0 is the upgrade.

The Head Coello Pro 2026 scores higher overall (8.3 vs 7.4) at a lower price (€270 vs €280). It has a diamond all-round profile with a higher sweetspot. The Technical Viper 3.0 stands out with Carbon Power Layer in the core (a unique Babolat technology) and X-EVA multi-density for better comfort than standard EVA. If you deliberately choose Babolat technology or want to experience the Carbon Power Layer approach, Viper 3.0 is a logical choice. Without brand preference: Coello Pro offers more for less.

Advantages & considerations

Advantages

Carbon Power Layer, an extra carbon layer integrated into the core for maximum energy transfer on smashes

X-EVA multi-density core: harder outside for power, softer inside for comfort, a better balance than standard EVA

Vibrabsorb System 2, improved elastomer integration into the core for better vibration damping

3D Spin+ surface texture for active spin potential on sliced shots

Considerations

Diamond shape with high balance and a specific attacking profile, not for control-focused players

3K carbon is less premium than 12K/18K variants at comparable prices from other brands

Limited external review coverage specifically for the 3.0 version

What will you notice on court?

What you will notice as a player

The smash gets plenty of easy power; you do not need a full follow-through to put the ball away.

A balanced racket that responds predictably in most situations.

The racket offers little help in defense; returning balls off the glass takes considerable effort.

At the net you react a little more slowly: the weight sits forward, so quick adjustments take more effort.

Which shots are affected most?

SituationWhat will you notice?
DefenseLittle help: you must guide balls off the glass and keep them deep yourself.
VolleyComfortable and stable; aiming is easy and you keep the ball low.
BandejaEasy to control: the ball stays reasonably low and predictable.
ViboraEnough bite for a quick brushing shot with some acceleration of your own.
SmashIts strongest point: maximum power with little effort, sending the ball away like a rocket.
BlockThe forward weight makes quick blocks more demanding than with an agile racket.
Off-center ballReasonably forgiving: outside the sweet spot you lose some speed, while accuracy is largely maintained.
